FLOATING SUPPORT SERVICE
HOW WE DO FLOATING SUPPORT
Our organisations ethos is ‘from street to home’ and we strive and follow this aim daily.
We help to resolve housing crises, benefit support, improving skills and confidence, empowering individuals to take control of their lives and make informed decisions to integrate fully into society.
We undertake this role by completing necessary case work which assesses referred individuals. Allowing us to key in and focus on certain areas of support, being the most crucial for the individuals' needs. This enables us to support people with appointments, make referrals on their behalf to relevant agencies and advocate for them when required.
Floating support ensures that vulnerable people who have experienced extended periods of homelessness can begin their journey of living independently in their own homes.

By 17, Jess was homeless and living on the streets and in an abusive relationship.
She had 2 children, whom she was not allowed to keep.
Through working with the Welcome Organisation Outreach Teams and the Support Workers in the Drop In, she was able to apply for housing, and in the meantime, lived in a caravan belonging to a relative.
When she was given a property, she was referred to our Floating Support Service, and through working with her Support Worker, felt empowered to start engaging with the Substitute Prescribing Team in the Belfast Trust and stopped using heroin.
She started going to counselling in order to better understand her drug use and addiction.
Jess is now free of any medication and with the support of her Floating Support Worker, is able to manage her mental health issues, has support with appointments and someone to talk things through with on a day-to-day basis.
It has been a long journey, but Jess now understands her self worth and value for the first time, and is living a life that she was always told she would never have.
